Serialization

At GMPack we are packaging serialized products in accordance to the Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD), which is developed to increase safety for the consumers. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of cases of falsified pharmaceutical products, leading to insufficient or wrong treatment of patients. Serialization of pharmaceutical products helps to eliminate that risk, as every finished product gets a unique 2D-code, which contain information of every single product. Including the unique serial number, batch number and the country the product should be sold in. The particular information of the product is registered in a database of the authority, which means that every time a product is sold at a pharmacy, the pharmacist are able to control the authenticity of the pharmaceutical product, and provide the consumer with the correct and genuine product.

Besides serialization, each finished product is sealed with a tamper sticker in the top and bottom of each carton, to ensure the consumer that the product hasn’t been opened or tampered. As a result of this procedure the consumer gets the correct, genuine and un-opened pharmaceutical product, which ensures the correct treatment.

At GMPack we are using Tracelink as an interface for the databases of the authorities and costumers. We are using Vimachem for managing the site-level serialization operations and machinery from Wipotec for the serialization and sealing of the pharmaceutical products.
